Fried Pizza

by Meredith

This fried pizza recipe can use any homemade pizza dough recipe.

We always make these pizzas for parties or a quick snack as the ingredients are always in the pantry.

Follow the instructions for your pizza dough.

When dough has doubled in size, turn dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.

Divide the dough into about 18 portions and flatten or roll each piece until it is about 2in (5cm) round.

Carefully drop each pizza into hot vegetable oi and cook until well browned on both sides. Depending on the size of your saucepan and the size of your pizzas, you may only be able to cook a couple at a time.

Pizzas should be a golden color when cooked through.

Remove from oil and drain on absorbent paper.

Top warm pizzas with tomato sauce (either homemade or jar) and sprinkle with grated or shaved parmesan cheese.

When we make these fried pizzas for a party we make them a little smaller so that they are about a "two-bite" size. We also add olives and/or anchovies as a topping.

Hi Meredith

Thanks so much for sending in your recipe for fried pizza.

These little mouthfuls taste yum and I agree they would be perfect for a party.

A really simple tomato sauce topping would be:

Can tomatoes
1 clove garlic, grated
1 tspn suar
1 tblspn fresh oregano, chopped
1 tblspn fresh basil, chopped

Place all ingredients int a medium-sized saucepan and simmer uncovered until the mixture has thickened.

Thanks again for sharing your recipe.
