  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 28oz can crushed tomatoes or 2 pounds fresh tomatoes
  • 1 8oz can tomato paste
  • 1 1/2TBSP honey (can substitute sugar)
  • 1 – 1 1/2 TBSP each of dried oregano and basil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Stove Top Directions

Heat the olive oil over medium heat, then add the diced onions and cook until soft. Add the garlic and allow cooking an additional 2 - 3 minutes. Do NOT burn the garlic. Add the remaining ingredients, turn the heat to low and allow simmering for at least 30 minutes.

Crock-Pot Directions

Add all your ingredients to the crock. Set on low for 7-8 hours or high for 3 - 4 hours.

Makes enough for about 4 12" pizzas.

Chunky Pizza Sauce

  • 28 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 3 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • ½ tsp. dried marjoram
  • 2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, finely minced

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Allow tocook for at least 15 minutes. Remove from the heat. (You can use a potato masher or blender to break up the chunks of tomato if you prefer a less-chunky sauce). Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
