Pizza Philadelphia style would have to involve steak and onions, right? Well, most of the pizza places in Philadelphia do offer that and much, much more. You’ll find everything from local farm fresh pizzas to vegan greatness and everything in between in this cultured city.

Most any pizza place is going to have both fans and people who think it doesn’t rate on the pizza scale.

Here are several pizza places to try and judge for yourself.

Kennett (kennettrestaurant.com)
Local farm fresh ingredients are king at this Philly pizza joint. They cook their pizza in wood-fired ovens and serve them up with one of their many local beers. Their menu also includes salads, cheese plates, sandwiches and burgers.

Little Italy Pizza (littleitalypizza1.com)
Pizza Philadelphia style is what you’ll get at Little Italy. Lots of great pizza selections on the menu as well as salads, calzones, sub sandwiches (including specialty sandwiches), wraps and pizza rolls. And of course you’ll find a Philly Cheesesteak pizza on the menu as well.

Blackbird Pizzeria (blackbirdpizzeria.com)
Blackbird serves only vegan pizzas. They offer specialty pizzas such as a potato pizza or nacho pizza. They also have a vegan version of a south Philly (with seitan sausage, eggplant, broccoli rabe, fennel and daiya cheese). They also have a Margherita pizza with daiya cheese. The menu also has vegan sandwiches and salads as well.

Tacconelli’s Pizzeria (tacconeliispizzeria.com)
Pizza Philadelphia style here means thin crust. And they suggest you call ahead to reserve your dough. You can get a tomato pie, regular pie, white pie or a Margherita pie with your choice of toppings – but keep it simple, they don’t suggest more than 3 toppings for these thin crust pies.

Rustica (rusticaphilly.com)
The only problem you might find here is choosing between their many, many pizza options. And with toppings like crab and asparagus and roasted potato and rosemary, you’ll be able to experiment! Rustica also has a whole wheat crust option. Lots of sandwiches, calzones and wings on the  menu too.

Lazaros Pizza House
Pizza Philadelphia style at Lazaros means large, thin crust slices of pie. Order a Hawaiian or white pizza among other options. They also have Stromboli and hoagies.
