Pizza Atlanta

Pizza Atlanta style includes a lot of wood fired pizzas…and that’s okay by me. Of course, in a city this large, you can find just about any type of pizza your heart can dream of including New York style, deep dish, vegetarian, vegan or whole wheat.

Most any pizza place is going to have both fans and people who think it doesn’t rate on the pizza scale.

Here are several pizza places to try and judge for yourself. If you know of a great Atlanta pizza place, please let us know!

Antico Pizza (anticopizza.it)
The locals say this is the place to eat Pizza Atlanta style. They use only the best Italian ingredients for their dough and when it runs out…well, they close the doors. It sounds like they have more ingredients on hand these days so your chances of getting a pie on after 9pm Saturday night have gotten even better.

Shorty’s (shortys-pizza.com)
For pizza Atlanta style at Shorty’s, order up a wood fired, thin crust pie with “Rock Star” toppings like arugula, eggplant, roasted onion, or toasted walnuts. Or opt for a “Super Star” topping which includes buffalo chicken breast, shrimp or prosciutto. Or you can choose a pie named after a rock star such as the “Tina Turner” or the “I’m Rick James” pizza. I’m loving the rock star pie names!
